Story time – I want to be a wizard

Alle storie per bambini non so resistere e questa, tratta dalla serie “I want to be… Story books” della Oxford University Press, è davvero deliziosa. Adoro anche i disegni!
In ciascuna delle storie della serie, Daisy e Robin giocano a travestirsi da personaggi o animali sempre diversi. In questa, in particolare, si travestono da maghi. Immaginate che sorpresa quando incontrano un mago vero! Peccato, però, che con le pozioni magiche sia un po’ imbranato…

Grazie a questa storia, i nostri bambini possono imparare:

– le espressioni da usare per salutare in inglese:

hello = ciao, quando incontriamo un amico
goodbye = arrivederci, quando ce ne andiamo

– i numeri da 1 a 5

– i colori:

red = rosso
blue = blu
yellow = giallo
green = verde

– alcuni vocaboli:

wizard = mago
costume = costume
cat = gatto
meow = miao

– come chiedere a qualcuno di aiutarci:

– come ringraziare:

Ma possono iniziare a familiarizzare anche con vocaboli ed espressioni legati al meteo:

Del resto, si sa, il tempo è uno degli argomenti di conversazione principali nel Regno Unito!

One sunny day, Robin and Daisy are playing.
‘I want to be a wizard,’ says Robin.
‘I want to be a wizard, too,’ says Daisy.
Robin and Daisy put on their wizard costumes. And off they go …

Robin and Daisy see a wizard.
‘Hello’ says the wizard.
‘Hello’ say Robin and Daisy.
‘Meow’ says the cat.
‘Look!’ says the wizard ‘Abracadabra … 1 … Oh, no!’ says the wizard.
‘It’s red!’ says Robin.
‘Meow’ says the cat.

‘Look!’ says the wizard ‘Abracadabra … 1 … 2 … Oh, no!’ says the wizard.
‘It’s blue!’ says Daisy.
‘Meow’ says the cat.

‘Look!’ says the wizard ‘Abracadabra … 1 … 2 … 3 … Oh, no!’ says the wizard.
‘It’s yellow!’ says Robin.
‘Meow’ says the cat.

‘Look!’ says the wizard ‘Abracadabra … 1 … 2 … 3 … 4. Oh, no!’ says the wizard.
‘It’s green!’ says Daisy.
‘Meow’ says the cat.

‘Can you help, please?’ says the wizard.
‘Yes’ say Daisy and Robin.

‘Look! It’s red, blue, yellow and green!’ say Daisy and Robin.
‘Thank you,’ says the wizard.
‘Meow!’ says the cat.

It’s time to go home.
‘Goodbye,’ say Daisy and Robin.
