Game of chores

So bene che i lavori di casa non sono tra gli argomenti più amati, anzi, ma questo post è dedicato proprio a loro, agli household chores. Ora, in condizioni normali, ci sono tante altre attività molto meno faticose e molto più divertenti a cui dedicare il nostro tempo: una passeggiata all’aperto, un’uscita con gli amici, la palestra, persino i compiti, va!
Però, in questo periodo di emergenza, in cui in molti ci troviamo a trascorrere praticamente tutto il tempo chiusi in casa, anche le tanto bistrattate faccende sono un modo per tenerci impegnati.

Ma come si chiamano i vari lavori di casa in inglese?

Lo scopriamo insieme grazie a questo video del British Council che, tra l’altro, ci propone un gioco a punti per rendere le pulizie più divertenti.

Ecco i chores indicati nel gioco:
(to) tidy up = riordinare, rassettare
(to) dust = spolverare
(to) sweep the floor = spazzare il pavimento
(to) vacuum = passare l’aspirapolvere
(to) clean = pulire
(to) lay the table = apparecchiare la tavola
(to) cook = cucinare
(to) do the washing-up = lavare I piatti
(to) walk the dog = portare a spasso il cane

Mentre guardiamo il video, cerchiamo di capire quanti punti vengono assegnati a ciascuna di queste attività. Pronti?

dust the shelves

Per quanto mi riguarda, per esempio:
